A man has been charged with assault and threatening to kill a woman who was sleeping on a sofa in an apartment in Brisbane.
Police said the woman woke up to find her boyfriend punching her and throwing her to the floor of a bedroom.
She was taken to hospital for treatment.
She has been released.
The woman’s boyfriend, who did not want to be named, said he didn’t know what the woman was doing when she woke up.
“It’s so surreal,” he said.

Police were called to the apartment on Tuesday morning after receiving a report of a woman with injuries and was taken by ambulance to Brisbane Royal Infirmary.
She is expected to be charged with multiple counts of assault.
The woman’s husband was also taken to the hospital after he suffered minor injuries.
Police said the incident was not linked to any criminal activity.
A neighbour told News.au she saw the man in the bed, wearing a grey hoodie and a pair of grey gloves.
“I was shocked.
I’ve never seen that before,” she said.
Another neighbour, who does not want her name used, said she saw a man walking towards the apartment.
She said she and her husband heard a loud noise and went outside.
When they arrived, they saw a male with a black backpack walking towards them.
“He had his hands up, his hands were shaking, he was on top of her,” she told News Australia.
